DEATH OF MAJOR E. W. MANSER.
MELBOURNE, Monday.
Major Edward William Manser, whose death took place at his residence, Seaforth Clendon-road, Toorak, to-day, was born in Hertfordshire, England, in 1870, and he obtained his commission as second-lieutenant in the Royal Engineers in 1890. In 1911 he was lent to the Australian forces, and here he did important work in connection with coastal defence. In 1913 he was transferred to the Home Affairs Department. Major Manser was married to Miss Annie Maud Dudgeon, a daughter of Mrs. Agar Wynne by her first marriage.
